Portfolio case work 1: Research and audit MERG membership capacity and training needs:

Communities in Action Enterprises has carried out qualitative and quantitative research of BME communities in London Borough of Tower Hamlets and supported the formation of Minority Ethnic Regeneration Groups (MERG). Two years after formation of MERG, it carried out audit of its services, its membership, its business plan and long term funding strategy. As a result of the research and the audit, it recommended a series of training programme for MERG member organizations and produced a manual entitled “developing and implementing policies and procedures” for the BME community voluntary organizations.

Portfolio case work 2: DTLR-funded Regeneration & Renewal project:

Communities in Action Enterprises has managed a DTLR-funded project to promote the participation of faith groups in regeneration & renewal initiatives on a national level. This project involved producing guidance to statutory agencies on ensuring non-discrimination against faith groups and capacity building support programmes. The project work carried out qualitative research to measure the effectiveness of the strategy of involving local faith group in local regeneration and renewal projects as well quality of available services. Using the findings from the research, guidance to statutory agencies and service providers was launched. This programme covered London and the southeast, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside.
